My name is Leah. I am a third-year student at Barnard College, Columbia University studying computer science & philosophy.
Design aligns with my passion for discovery. Not...the kind of discovery in the sense that I am trailblazing a new mathematical theorem or invention (although that would be nice), but the kind of discovery that hits every human at some point in their lives and gets them to think, “wow. how did I live without this?”
It’s the kind of discovery that re-introduces existing knowledge to the right people who can genuinely appreciate it. I enjoy projects that challenge what I know and prompt me to learn more, which I often discover in works that aim to enhance community engagement and social dynamics.
I can develop projects such as web/mobile applications and video games. I gravitate towards front-facing projects that allow me to express my creativity within the bounds of functionality. My background as a developer allows me to consider both engineers and users in mind when I design.
languages : Swift, SwiftUI, HTML, CSS, Python, C#, C, Java
I enjoy game design and development because it allows me to explore my interests in narrative, design, and programming altogether. It's also a really fun way for me to connect with and work in teams from all over the globe through game jams. View my game dev portfolio here!
tools : Unity, C#
I used to be pre-medicine. I worked at an urgent care as a medical assistant for 2 years and I was part of a biomed engineering lab on Columbia's medical campus until I decided to switch to CS. My past interactions with patients allow me to better understand and empathize with user needs and painpoints. I'm happy that as a designer, my solutions have more creative freedom :)
